The tours in detail

Tour 1: Through Trier with the early bird

Without any rush and perhaps with a coffee in hand, the early bird tour begins and takes you on a 120-minute classic route past important World Heritage Sites, St. Peter's Cathedral, the Church of Our Lady, and the Basilica, all the way to the Imperial Baths. Since the shops are still closed and there are few people out and about in the city, you won't be distracted from listening and looking. And because it is still early, there are always free benches along the way to catch your breath.

The tours are available on Fridays and Saturdays and start at 8:00 a.m.

Tour 2: Trier Thermal Baths Tour

The Trier Roman Baths Tour takes you to the three rediscovered thermal baths from the time of Roman Augusta Treverorum: the Imperial Baths, the Viehmarkt Baths and the Barbara Baths, whose ruins can still tell us a lot about the everyday life of the Roman population. The roman baths were once magnificent buildings that were popular and frequently visited. The roman baths tour gives you a look behind the scenes and at the construction of these complex facilities. Visiting the baths was about more than just bathing, however; people also met here to do sport together or to do business. This time is brought back to life with the help of traditional reports and anecdotes.

The tours take place on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 10:15 a.m.

  • Explore the underground corridors of the Imperial Baths
  • Take a look at the construction history of the 1st century at the Viehmarktthermen.
  • Marvel at the ruins of the once huge and luxurious Barbara Baths

Tour 3: Trier under National Socialism

This two-hour tour against forgetting focuses on the events that took place during the Nazi terror in Trier. The tour sheds light on a dark chapter in Trier's history under National Socialism and leads to sites of persecution and resistance in the city of Trier. The aim of the tour is to bring the history of this period closer to home by introducing people, places, streets, and squares in Trier that were significant at the time. Individual fates are examined in more detail with the help of stumbling blocks. Remembering the victims and perpetrators should make us more sensitive to current human rights violations and national delusions, wherever they occur.

The tour can be booked all year round and is wheelchair accessible.
It takes place on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 2 p.m.
